Charles became deaf due to the side effect of medication took in birth to keep him alive from the pregnancy complications. Charles grew up in Maryland since 1989 with several years moving around in States before settle in Maryland. Charles attended public schools for elementary and middle school before enrolled into a deaf institution called Maryland School for the Deaf for secondary education in 1997 to 2001. Charles entered Rochester Institute of Technology because of its deaf support service and reputation of CO-OP program.

Charles was introduced to Islam by Brother Nashiru Abdulai after the years of friendship in college since 2002. Ever since 2005, Charles and Nashiru work together to organize Deaf Muslims nation-wide under Global Deaf Muslims. Charles graduated with MBA in November 2007 and he works as an investment advisor representative for Schwarz Financial Services in Bethesda, Maryland.

Due to Federal and state laws governing investment advisors, Charles cannot hold any position that involves with financial transaction or monetary decision making in any organization. Charles gives advice to the Board of Directors about monetary policy and decision of Global Deaf Muslim.
